Frequently Asked Questions

Select a student and set up a recurring donation to become one of their sponsors. Sponsorship costs $50/month and helps cover everything a student needs to reach graduation: tuition, uniforms, books, supplies, tutoring, counseling, and over 400 hours of mentoring, leadership development, and Christian character formation each year. A student is fully sponsored once they reach $250 of support a month. Whether you contribute $50, $250, or anything in between, all of our sponsors are considered PathMakers because they help pave the path to graduation for a bright student in Belize.

Not ready for a monthly commitment? A one-time gift of any amount contributes to student sponsorships across Belize.

A full sponsorship annually covers the student’s tuition, uniforms, books, school supplies, hot lunch, transportation, tutoring, and over 400 hours of mentoring, leadership development, and Christian character formation. Read more about our wrap-around model here.

Each school year, students from across Belize apply for PathLight sponsorships. This process includes student essays, teacher recommendations, family financial information, assessment testing, grade reports, scores on national standardized testing, and a formal in-person interview.

PathLight searches for those students who demonstrate the highest potential for academic success, and have the least financial means to realize their dreams.

Yes! PathLight International is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. All donations are tax-deductible, and you will receive a giving receipt for your records at the end of each year.

We understand that circumstances change. If you need to pause or cancel your sponsorship, just reach out to us at [email protected] and we’ll take care of it. If a student loses a sponsor mid-year, PathLight works to find a replacement so their path to graduation stays uninterrupted.

Our staff do the best we can to keep this page updated so that every student listed still has financial need. In the case that someone has already fully sponsored a student you select, we will reach out to you directly and help connect you with another scholar who is still waiting for a PathMaker.
