Belize is one of only 13 countries in the world where the number of people entering extreme poverty daily, is rising - and by far the closest of these 13 countries to the United States.
While many travel to Belize to enjoy beautiful island beaches and incredible scuba diving on the world’s second largest Barrier reef, the people and communities of Belize are entirely overlooked by all the major charitable organizations.
Founded in 2007, PathLight is changing these realities.
In Belize, free education stops at age 12. That means at the very time children in Belize are becoming teenagers, they cannot afford to continue their education and pursue their dreams. This leaves far too many trapped in a cycle of generational poverty. We don’t think that’s right.
We believe we can provide a far more hopeful reality, and accelerate change in Belize by identifying the children who have the greatest potential for academic success, yet the least economic opportunity to pursue their dreams. We’re working to change what the learning experience looks like for a child in Belize.
PathLight inspires hope by partnering with schools, churches, and residents of under resourced and overlooked communities so that young people become steadfast followers of Christ, receive a quality education, and pursue pathways that lead to a meaningful vocation.
