The numbers tell a sad story. Nearly one billion people entered this century without the
ability to read a book or sign their name. Two of every three of them are women. And half
of the world’s children — over one billion boys and girls — live in poverty. The threat of
HIV/AIDS, human trafficking, child labor and child abuse are rising each year.
For these children, education is elusive. That’s why PathLight serves children at risk by
providing educational opportunities that integrate faith and learning. By working with
volunteers, local schools, children’s homes, churches, government agencies, and non-profit
groups, PathLight helps vulnerable children become the self-reliant leaders of tomorrow.
